ILIGAN City — City hall would start padlocking houses at a resettlement site for survivors of the 2011 storm “Sendong” in Sta. Elena that are being used by other people.

Teo Bacung, chair of city hall’s Task Force Demolition, said this would be done on April 2.

Bacung said his team would be padlocking houses at Bayanihan Village that are not being used by the donees.

He said the housing units were awarded to survivors of the Dec. 17 “Sendong” devastation here because their houses were washed out.

There are over a thousand of these houses, and only about 300 are being used by donees.

Despite a prohibition, officials said many donees yielded the houses to other parties.

Bacung’s group lists at least 19 houses that would be padlocked by “Task Force Kamagong,” a composite team of the police and military.

The list could grow, according to Bacung.
