For the very few Pinoys, like me, who mistakenly believe teleseryes are a waste of precious time, let me assure you that the noon-time GMA teleserye featuring the country’s top most love team––Alden “Bae” Richards and Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza––has provided Metro Manilans the most needed respite to the worsening daily traffic as no amount of traffic snarl caused by flood or whatever could distract their focus on the latest happenings on “AlDub.” But in the political landscape, I dare say again that Davao Mayor Rodrigo “Super Digong” Duterte is the most exciting phenomenon. Here’s the proof: In just a matter of hours, right after Super Digong himself announced last week that he is categorically not going to run for president next year, he was mobbed by his legions of supporters all over Metro Manila. Right there and then, the so-called “Million People March” was organized by taxi drivers and other common tao. There are other different fora and activities lined up designed to persuade Super Digong to reconsider his decision. Early in the morning on Friday, cellphone owners in the country received text messages, thus: “This might make your day. This report comes from KBL sources––just talked wd DU30 political adviser, definitely he is running for President. He, in fact, is carried as official candidate for President of PDP, Lakas-NUCD and NP. He has sked meeting in Manila where he can officially declare his candidacy on 15 Sept! BBM, meantime, is sked to make his official declaration on 17 Sept! Accordingly, he will run as AVP of DU30! Latest info. Ty.” But just when a good many Mindanaoans and Visayans were preparing to join the march in Metro Manila, another disturbing text message doused cold water on the festive atmosphere, no different from GMA’s AlDub teleserye. If you’re like me, try watching AlDub today. Chances are the story line which is a daily guessing game could end up just like Super Digong’s guessing game. In the end, I’m certain, the pambansang Bae and Yaya Dub would find each other. And, hopefully, Super Digong would find us worth fighting for. Tsada, di ba? •• “Leadership alone determines success... Yet it has all the potentials of a great country in the likes of Singapore, and Switzerland, a federal form of government, which was practically the only country untouched by the savagery of both World Wars I and II. We now have a leader who has no ambition and does not want to be President but has all it takes to be President even as he believes that in the Philippines, the presidency is providential––meaning, presidents are made in heaven. Both VP Binay and Mar Roxas have all the money in the world. But like their predecessors in the presidential elections of 2004, former Sen. Manny Villar and former Defense Secretary Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro, both would not fare better and chances are, much lesser than junior Sen. Grace Llamanzares, who is so young and yet turning out to be a trapo, much too soon. Under the present virtual martial rule by PNoy and the Liberal Party trapos, we live in constant fear of being killed, including our loved ones in broad daylight by ruthless armedebels and drug-lords who want to rule our country with impunity. Enough is enough. Only Super Digong with the poor can solve our continuing woes by: • declaring a revolutionary government just like the late President Cory did and in six months call for a “Concon”; and • decongesting Metro Manila by having a federal form of government; consequently, we will no longer have Imperial Manila as every State shall be independent of the other states––no more favored regions, no more BBL. Only “one for all and all for one.” Remember the Sunday before the filing of the certificates of candidacy, the country would witness the awakening of the “sleeping giant” – Mindanaoans in Mindanao and elsewhere.
