AUTHORITIES are set on pressing charges against a Turk who was arrested for being with an underaged female in a motel in this city on Tuesday.
PO2 Merlyn Francisco, head of the Women and Children’s Protection Desk of Divisoria police, said Mehmet Darendag, 37, of River Grand Subdivision in Upper Balulang, was arrested in a motel on Cruz-Taal streets following information provided by concerned citizens.
Francisco said Darendag was caught after he “picked up” the 15-year old female who was brought to Room 303 of the motel.
Police said officers knocked and it took a few minutes for the suspect to open the door. When the door was opened, Francisco said, officers saw that Darendag was half-naked while the minor was lying on the bed.
“Ingon ang cashier nga wala daw siya nakabantay nga naay kauban ang Turkish national pag-check in,” Francisco said.
Police said the minor, who is from Malaybalay City in Bukidnon, worked as a commercial sex worker. Authorities have yet to identify her pimp.
Meanwhile, the Turk was detained at Divisoria police station pending the filing of charges for violation of RA 9208 in relation to RA 7610 (Anti-Child Abuse Act).
