NORTHERN Mindanao Land Transportation Office (LTO-10) has expanded its services by opening a new district office in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental. The new office, now operational, marks the 14th district in the region.
LTO-10 Regional Director Nelson Manaloto confirmed the development during a phone interview on Monday, August 12. He highlighted that creating the LTO Balingasag District was intended to bring services closer to residents, eliminating the need to travel to Cagayan de Oro or Gingoog City for vehicle registration and other transactions.
The LTO Balingasag District operates out of a newly constructed two-story building in Barangay Waterfalls, spanning 264 square meters.
The facility was completed with support from Rep. Christian Unabia of Misamis Oriental’s First Congressional District, according to Riche Caingles, the district’s officer-in-charge.
The office features nine service windows on the first floor, with a conference room and examination area on the second floor.
Vice Mayor Felix Borromeo, who donated the 2,988-square-meter land for the building and its access road, said the new district would boost the municipality’s revenue.
He also expects the area to attract new businesses, such as insurance agencies and restaurants, providing additional income opportunities for local drivers and creating more jobs.
The creation of the Balingasag District has also led to the temporary suspension of the LTO’s E-Patrol service, which had been stationed behind the town’s gymnasium, Caingles said.
