DIGOS City ― Elements of Maco municipal police station in Davao de Oro are still in a pursuit operation against the assailants who gunned down the SK Federation President of the town on Tuesday night.
Lt. Colonel Emerson Pugong, Maco police chief identified the victim as Jorlanbon Sacay, 24.
Pugong said the shooting incident transpired at Purok La Suerte, Barangay Binuangan in Maco at about 7:30 pm on July 18 where Sacay was rushed to Davao Regional Medical Center in Apokon, Tagum City in an effort to save his life. However, Dr. Roi Kevin Varela declared the victim dead on arrival at about 8:18 pm.
Witnesses who refused to be identified told police investigators, Sacay just arrived home at Purok La Suerte from a meeting together with his colleagues in the council with the town mayor as the presiding officer, the police said.
When Sacay disembarked from his Ford Ranger, the report said, two individuals, apparently male, on board a still undetermined brand of motorcycle arrived at the area, and without further provocation, the back-rider fired several shots at the SK President hitting different parts of his body.
The attackers fled from the crime scene on board the same motorcycle, the witnesses told the police.
Forensic investigators recovered six fired cartridge cases of caliber .45 pistol, and one fired bullet believed to be from a caliber .45 handgun.
