DIGOS City ― A 48-year-old laborer sustained multiple stab wounds in different parts of the body following a verbal tussle while in a drinking session on the evening of July 30.
Major Ian James Acal, Carmen police chief identified the victim as Joel Cayetano Tagose, a laborer of Maximus Incorporated, and a resident of Purok-3B, Barangay Sto. Niño, Carmen, Davao del Norte.
Tagose was immediately transported to Carmen District Hospital and referred to Davao Regional Medical Center in Tagum City for further medical treatment of his stab wounds.
The victim told investigators, Jeffrey Piñar Sacay, a resident of the same place was the culprit behind the attack.
Probers also learned that the Tagose and Sacay were having a drinking session at the residence of Edilberto Piñar when a heated altercation ensued at around 6:40 pm on Sunday leading to the stabbing incident.
Sacay reportedly grabbed a knife and without warning stabbed Tagose hitting the neck and different parts of the body.
Police said Tagose sustained a total of twelve stab wounds during the incident.
The suspect is currently the subject of a pursuit and manhunt operation after fleeing from the crime scene.
Acal issued a marching order to his personnel to intensify their anti-criminality campaign and information dissemination to increase the awareness of the public for them to help prevent untoward incidents inside their area of responsibility.
