Military seizes equipment for bomb-making from Maoists

BUTUAN City — Government troops recovered bomb-making devices, ammunition for M16 and AK47 assault rifles, one M16 and an AK-47 assault rifles, personal belongings, one back pack and subversive documents after more than a 30-minute gunfight against New People’s Army rebels in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Rosario town in Agusan del Sur, noon last Friday.
Police and military reports claimed joint combat operations of the Agusan del Sur Provincial Police Public Safety Company and the 26th Infantry Battalion of the 401st Infantry Brigade based in Camp Awa, New Leyte, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur encountered some 100 fully-armed NPA rebels.
Clearing operations conducted by the PNP and military operatives recovered said items.
