By LITO RULONA Correspondent MAYOR Oscar Moreno’s lawyer Bryan Dale Mordeno has written to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to seek clarification on whether or not the Office of the Ombudsman’s administrative suspension order against the local chief executive is still valid given his reelection. Mordeno explained that under the doctrine of condonation, an elective official slapped with an administrative complaint is condoned after he gets reelected. “Gipadala kini namo mnga query sa DILG kay mao man ang nahitabo kang Mayor Moreno kay nahitabo kini nga kaso niadto pang 2013. It is public knowledge that Mayor Moreno was reelected in the May elections,” Mordeno said. Mordeno earlier filed a motion for reconsideration before the ombudsman, asking it to reverse its decision to suspend Moreno for grave abuse of authority and grave misconduct. Also ordered suspended were city budget officer Percy Salazar and city accountant Beda Joy Elot. The officials were charged by Puntod barangay chairman Marvin Beja in connection with the lease of a house in Macasandig without the approval of the city council. It was for boxers receiving training under city hall’s sports program. Mordeno said they also filed a motion asking the Court of Appeals to issue a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO).
