Two decades after an album unexpectedly changed the course of their lives, Cagayan de Oro's inspirational power pop band Thoughts And Notions is celebrating its 20th anniversary by breathing new life into the record that started it all.
On July 27, 2026, the band will release the 20th Anniversary Edition of In Awe of His Amazing Love, a complete reimagining of its 2006 debut album. More than a remaster, the project sees every song revisited, re-recorded, and reimagined—offering longtime listeners a fresh yet familiar experience while introducing a new generation to the music that launched the band's journey.
Ironically, In Awe of His Amazing Love was never intended to begin a recording career. Originally conceived as a fundraising project for the band's church, the album was recorded with modest resources and without expectations beyond supporting its local ministry. But the sincerity of its message and songwriting caught the attention of a record label, which eventually signed the band and propelled it onto the national music scene.
For Thoughts And Notions, the opportunity came as a complete surprise. The members have often looked back on that first album as an earnest but amateur production. Yet what they lacked in technical polish was more than offset by heartfelt songs that resonated with listeners across the country.
Twenty years later, the band remains true to the mission that has guided it from the beginning—to uplift wounded souls through music. That same purpose remains at the heart of this anniversary release.
Rather than simply enhancing the original recordings, the band chose to rebuild the album from the ground up. The new edition features all 10 songs from the debut album, along with a bonus track, while retaining the beloved melodies and introducing richer arrangements, updated production, and a more refined sound shaped by two decades of musical growth.
