DIGOS City ―A 25-year-old businesswoman was robbed by still unidentified suspects along the riverbank of Purok-6, Barangay Barayong, Magsaysay town in Davao del Sur shortly before noon yesterday.

Captain Arturo Papas, Jr., Magsaysay town OIC police chief, in a report to the provincial PNP headquarters said the trader identified only as “Jennifer,” a resident of Purok Magsasaka, Barangay Poblacion, Magsaysay town, told police at least three unidentified individuals intercepted her at around 11 am while walking along the riverbank after collecting money out of her rice buy-and-sale business at Purok-1, Sitio Sagrada, Barangay Barayong.

Jennifer further told police investigators that the perpetrators grabbed the brown backpack where the P50,000 cash money collection was inside.

The victim also said that the robbers took off her clothes; the blue baggy pants, yellow crop top shirt, and violet bra.

Thereafter, one of the attackers pulled a lighter and put it on her left breast, and on the right thigh causing burn injuries before fleeing from the place of the incident en route towards the river.

Jennifer said after sensing the robbers have already gone from the place, she ran towards the nearest house and sought help.

Her mother accompanied Jennifer to the police station to report the incident.

Captain Papas immediately mobilized his police personnel to conduct a hot pursuit operation against the perpetrators in an effort to catch them and bring the culprits to the court of law.
