TWO correspondents of Mindanao Gold Star Daily and three others from Cagayan de Oro won top prizes in the recently concluded Globe Media Excellence Award 2019 held in Davao city.
There were a total of 12 categories, five wins came from Cagayan de Oro City journalists, two from Mindanao Gold Star Daily.

For Photo of the Year, Erwin Mascariñas a veteran photojournalist won with his entry titled “School bound.” Published on June 11, 2018. Mascariñas was also the grand finalist in the following categories: Environmental Story of the Year, Breaking News of the Year for Digital, Investigative Story of the Year for Digital.
Meanwhile, three Cagayan de Oro-based journalists also won in the following categories Explanatory/Investigative Video Story of the Year – Digital – Nef Luczon of SunStar CDO; for News Report of the Year – Radio, Anne Quileste of Bombo Radyo; and Joey Taguba Yecyec of ABS-CBN won Environment Story of the Year.
