Many dads struggle to have it all, in balancing work and family. It is so important to know the role of being a father  in a child’s life. Fathers are capable in taking care and disciplining their children. Like Alain Adeva, a working dad, he experienced so many struggles in being a dad, but still he never fails to cope up and give time to his daughter and wife, because for him family is everything! “Other than the usual struggles of a father, there’s none really, especially if we speak within the boundaries of our family. Besides, caring for one’s family -- especially with your children comes naturally, it’s instinctive. And I have a doting wife, Ravie, who keeps the balance.,“ Adeva said.   About Him Alain Adeva is one of the leading hair and make-up artists in Northern Mindanao. He is a certified airbrush make-up specialist and a registered nurse. He is a proud Iliganon and a very devoted person not just to his work but also to his religion. He always put God first on the center of their lives. For him living his life is very simple, he never mind what other people say and think about him. “I honestly don’t think I’m unique; I’m just as any other person who loves to be with the family and enjoy life at its fullest. Or maybe I’m just confident with whom I am and I don’t really mind what other people say and think about me. I’m just the kind of person who loves to joke around and make other people laugh. And also, I discriminate myself away from toxic people to protect my being and my family as well. People can always ask my friends about me or even through my Facebook page reviews.” He said. Have you ever been so down that you felt like quitting? Stress really gets to everybody, No exemptions even for a successful individual like Alain. “WORK OVERLOAD! I feel like quitting sometimes especially when you really have to deal with stressful situations and people who seem very insensitive of your needs as a human being and as a parent,” he explains. Adding that he keeps himself away from social media as much as possible and has his wife attend to work related inquiries – he said that with little time that he has with family he tends to spend it wisely with his daughter Nana. “I spend my break with my family, enjoy being a father to Nana and we play like kids again. And above everything else, we pray as a family,” Alain shares. By the end of the day when all things are said and done Alain is still Alain. “Strip off from the labels – people see me differently in social media. I’m just that friendly stylist and a Virgo at your service. Alain added. AS A FATHER Alain have always been the authoritative kind of parent and Ravie the permissive one but they try their best to meet halfway. “Even before Akiane was born, Ravie and I already discussed the theories and the methods that we would probably apply in raising our daughter – there have been differences of opinion but one thing is clear to us, and that is, as much as we can extend our patience,” He said. Everyone seems to think that being a traditional dad, you need to be this “Macho Man” and the sole provider of the family, but Alain is very different, very different to the usual dads you knew. He loves to collect dolls since younger age.” I am a type of dad who loves to collect dolls and during my free time I usually played it with Nana” He added. When it comes to disciplining Alain is very capable about it. “We are more into explaining to Nana the logical consequences of her actions, rewarding good behavior and of course, age-appropriate discipline. And praise God; looking at her now, it must have worked,” He shares.   HUSBAND For this part, he let his wife, Ravie to describe who he is as a husband and as a father. “He is definitely a great family provider, a hands-on father when it comes to our daughter’s milestones; he wants to be a part of every stage of it. He is a loving and thoughtful husband, not a perfect one, but definitely a man of high moral standards,” Ravie describes. FAMILY Everyone has their own definition of their family. Everyone do everything for the sake of their family. But for Alain, this is what his family for him, “We are just any other family out there who’s driven with love for each other. We are not a perfect family, but we strive to be the family whom God wants us to be” Alain ended.   Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad. Alain Adeva is think he is just an ordinary dad, but he always strive to do his best to be a perfect father and husband to Nana and Ravie despite of his busy schedules.
