OROQUIETA City––Four gunmen riding in tandem on two motorcycles shot to death a radio broadcaster in Ozamiz City yesterday morning. Senior Supt. Archival Macala, provincial police director, identified the victim as Cosme Maestrado, the anchorman of Ratsada program of the DxOC-Radyo Pilipino. Maestrado also hosts a news program at a TV cable firm in Ozamiz City. Macala said Maestrado was repeatedly shot by four gunmen at around 9:30 am in front of a shopping center on Rizal Street, Ozamiz. Macala said initial investigation showed that Maestrado was about to park his car when the gunmen came and opened fire. He said the victim, who had 10 gunshot wounds, was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival by doctors. Macala said the Ozamiz police are thoroughly investigating the incident. Senior Supt. Archival Macala, provincial police director, activated Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) to dig deep into the killing of the hard-hitting broadcaster on orders of Chief Supt. Lyndel Desquitado, police regional director, who came over for a command visit and courtesy call on Misamis Occidental Gov. Herminia Ramiro. Macala said the SITG has been tasked to look into all possible motives that would lead to the arrest of the suspects behind Maestrado’s the gun slay. (philip james tremedal of pna)
