Duterte arrived at Camp Evangelista at around 6:10 pm, and he went straight to the Loyola Chapel to condole with the families of Corporal Marson Morales and Private Oshin Rosala, both from the Army’s 58th Infantry Battalion.

The slain soldiers were conferred posthumous military medals.

Duterte also visited wounded soldiers: privates Vincente Nino Lopez, Regie Joy Duyan, Ramon Balibagon, Sgt. Jusua Delawan and Private Janesses Andam of the 26th Infantry Battalion, and 2Lt. Daniel de Guzman of the 30th Infantry Battalion.

The wounded soldiers, who are being treated in the Army hospital, were awarded wounded personnel medals.

The military said government troops and rebels exchanged firepower in Barangay Kaulayanan, Sugbongcogon town on Feb. 27 and Feb. 28, according to the military.

Duterte first talked to Aiza, the grieving wife of Morales, inside the chapel. After talking with the widow, he proceeded to the coffin of Rosala and talked to the surviving mother. Rosala was unmarried.

He gave the families financial aid. (with reports from pna)
