DAVAO City — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH 11) in this region has announced that it is opening the landslide-affected section of the Carlos P. Garcia Highway for vehicular traffic.

Starting Monday, the road “shall be opened to vehicular traffic on a 24/7 basis,” said Dean Ortiz, spokesperson of DPWH Region 11.

However, the agency said the said road could still face closures due to erratic weather conditions.

“Motorists are encouraged to exercise caution,” he said.

The Maa-Carlos P. Garcia Highway was previously closed due to road clearing operations after a landslide incident on Oct. 5.

The closure of the road led to a heavy traffic the day after, which lasted for days as buses and trucks were forced to ply on Mac Arthur Highway. (davaotoday.com)
