NORTHERN Mindanao police director Timoteo Pacleb ordered the state-owned Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) secured to foil a possible second attempt on the life of Supt. Michael John Deloso, a Camp Alagar official said yesterday.

Supt. Surki Sereñas, Camp Alagar spokesman, said Chief Supt. Pacleb ordered security outside the NMMC’s intensive care unit where Deloso is receiving medical treatment and outside the hospital itself.

Sereñas said the intensive care unit where Deloso is would be secured by the police 24 hours a day. Outside, he said, police officers and law enforcers in civilian clothes have been posted.

Pacleb also approved the creation of the “Special Investigation Task Group Deloso” by Cagayan de Oro police director Senior Supt. Nelson Aganon.

Sereñas said investigators were looking into two possibilities. One is that Deloso made an enemy when he was still assigned at the Cocpo — he once served as its spokesman and later, traffic division deputy director

Cocpo spokesman Supt. Mardy Hortillosa said the Task Group Deloso already went to work on the case yesterday after Pacleb approved its creation.

The Task Group is headed by Aganon himself. Its members include members of Cocpo’s intelligence group and other police units, including those from Camp Alagar.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has also started its own investigation. But Hortillosa said the CIDG would likely be a coordinated effort with the Task Group.

The Task Force, he said, would mean a full-blown and thorough investigation into the ambush.

Hortillosa said investigators were trying to find out if the ambush  and the escape of the assailants was recorded by any CCTV camera system.

“We hope that there are CCTV units aron ma-identify nato ang suspects,” he said. “Dako kini og makatabang and we need cooperation from the public. Tahi-tahion nato ang mga areas nga ilang giadtoan.”

He said authorities are still facing a blank wall on the attempt on Deloso’s life.

“Kung kinahanglan, ang Anti-Cyber Crime Group amo pud i-tap,”  Hortillosa said.

Meanwhile, Aganon said he visited Deloso at the hospital yesterday, and he was told by a physician that Deloso was already in a “stable condition.”

“Although he cannot open his mouth and talk, his eyes are blinking. We just hope and pray na maka-survive siya,” Aganon said.
