“PATIKIM pa lang ’yon.”
A brief heavy rain flooded Osmeña Extension from Recto to Gaabucayan. A few hours of rain like that would have flood water entering our house. Luckily, traffic was not heavy. After a few minutes driving through floodwaters, I finally reached home safe and dry.
It may now be worth recalling that I have written several times urging our barangay officials to check on the drainage system around our barangay. When Osmeña Extension was concreted, below of what seem to be like the sidewalks were the drainage. Huge trucks and trailers seldom use this road because they pass through the PPA gate in Agora.
When Solid Shipping established the container yard along Gaabucayan and later on, another would join in, huge and heavy vehicles not only pass through Osmeña Extension but also made the roadsides as parking area for some with wheels on the concrete cover of the drainage. While these trucks destroy the drainage covers, barangay officials did nothing to stop it. Today, I could only wonder if we really have a working drainage system. Today, this stretch is not only dirty but these trucks continue to occupy it. I suspect certain people are getting “tong” from these truck owners/drivers.
The barangay cannot do it alone. The city has to come in. I’ve been here for more than 20 years, and I can’t remember the city government ever doing anything to clean our drainage system, bolstering my suspicion that there never was any drainage system at all since the beginning. A victim of corruption, I guess!
My bet is, Recto will continue to experience floods. The ongoing Bitan-ag Bridge project would all be for naught. Highise buildings continue to mushroom without clear drainage. Take for instance this new mall, during heavy rain, the parking area gets flooded.
Japan is now having floodwater basins under their highise buildings. Cagayan de Oro has no way to go but follow the same no matter how costly. The Pelaez family might just pioneer this. Cagayan de Oro, brace for floods in the coming months!

My Globe Internet is so slow. Why are subscribers not getting their money’s worth? Globe is promoting something that is faster but costlier by a few hundreds. Is this all about it, deliberately slow down the speed so that we will be forced to avail their so-called new product?
It’s not Globe alone, I believe. But since this is a monopoly of a few, the government can’t do anything. Who knows what’s under the table.
Bring this problem to any Globe outlet. I don’t think they will give a hoot. What’s that again, “Upgrading”? You’re just insensitive!

Fake rice, impossible! Almost nothing is impossible with China. The negative publicity she is getting on social networks may one day force people all over the world to shun Chinese products especially food. Are you sure that the meat inside canned goods are safe as specified on labels?
Frankly, I am beginning to shun Chinese canned goods. Anything made in China makes me think twice before buying. And if Chinese products continue to be like that, there will come a time when no country will buy Chinese goods anymore. Cheap!
Wait till your house burns or your stomach aches. Of course, the Chinese government is running after these unscrupulous businessmen who want to make it rich quick. She has to.
