CAGAYAN de Oro City — A Bukidnon State University student turned her vision of ASEAN unity into a winning digital artwork, taking the top prize in the ASEAN 2026 Digital Poster-Making Contest of the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office 10. 

Margeaux Therese B. Tulang, a fourth-year Digital Animation Technology student, bested 30 entries from higher education institutions across Northern Mindanao. 

Her award was presented during the CHED-10 2026 ASEAN Month Culminating Program on Aug. 27 in Tangub City. 

Tulang emerged as the winner from 15 finalists who competed under the theme “Setting Sail for ASEAN 2026: Navigating Our Future, Together.” 

Art of unity 

Tulang, who is taking up Bachelor of Science in Entertainment and Multimedia Computing, used a boat carrying diverse ASEAN citizens as the centerpiece of her winning poster. 

The boat bears the ASEAN logo and moves across open waters surrounded by regional landmarks, cultural structures and modern city skylines. 

For Tulang, the imagery reflects how ASEAN countries can move forward together despite their differences. 

“I represented the ASEAN region as a unified community embarking on a journey toward progress and innovation,” she said. 

She said the different structures in the artwork represent ASEAN’s cultural heritage, diversity, urban growth and drive for innovation. 

“The core message of the artwork is unity, shared vision, and progress,” Tulang said. 

Second major win 

The regional victory is Tulang’s second major digital poster championship this year. 

On July 28, she also won first place in the Digital Poster Challenge for the West Philippine Sea during the 10th West Philippine Sea Victory Day celebration. 

Her winning entry was titled “Di Ka Pasisiil.” 

Tulang said she initially doubted her chances of winning the ASEAN competition. 

“I honestly didn’t expect to win because I had my doubts along the way,” she said. 

The recognition, she added, made the long hours spent creating the artwork worthwhile. 

“Knowing that all the late nights and effort weren’t in vain makes me immensely proud,” she said. 

BukSU President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol and university officials were present during the awarding. 

Tulang’s back-to-back victories also highlight how digital art and multimedia skills are giving Northern Mindanao students new ways to tell stories and express regional issues.
