BACOLOD CITY — Fifty-three-year-old national athlete Kenneth Marlowe Adecer Tan of the Cagayan de Oro-Misamis Oriental Archery Club swept both gold medals in the Barebow Men's division at the 2026 PSC-WAP Philippine Barebow Championship Leg 4.
The businessman and national team archer secured top honors in both the qualification round and the individual Olympic Round elimination series at the Bacolod City National High School grounds.
Qualification Round
Tan captured the top seed in the qualification round with 593 total points (297-296 half-splits), hitting four Xs and eight tens.
Peter Joseph Borromeo of Tangent Archery Guild took first runner-up honors with 571 points, while Elizer Villarosa Jr. of Davao Archery Club Inc. finished as second runner-up with 562 points.
Olympic Round
Tan carried his top-seed momentum into the Olympic Round elimination bracket, capturing the championship title to complete his double-gold sweep.
Borromeo secured the silver medal as first runner-up in the knockout finals, while Villarosa claimed the bronze medal as second runner-up.
Mental Game
Ranked second on the Philippine Barebow National Team, Tan practices up to three hours daily to maintain precision without mechanical sights or stabilizers.
"Focus on the shot cycle process and keep my focus on the goal," Tan said. "Even after winning the Qualifying Round, my focus was still on the goal."
"As a member of the Philippine National Barebow Team, I need to finish strong in every competition to maintain my slot as a national athlete," Tan added, citing barebow's upcoming inclusion in the Southeast Asian Games.
