CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Two years into her swimming career, St. Mary’s School athlete Alexa Ann T. Epan has emerged as a major regional talent, claiming nine total medals across the Batang Pinoy qualifiers and the Division Meet.

Guided by coach Erickson Jadap, Epan achieved multiple podium finishes across butterfly, freestyle, and medley events while adjusting her daily training routine to build competitive speed and endurance.

Rapid Rise

Epan attributes her rapid progression to strict training discipline, early morning routines, and reduced screen time.

"The mindset that helped me win these medals was to believe in myself, stay focused, and never give up," Epan shares.

Batang Pinoy

At the Batang Pinoy qualifiers, Epan captured gold in the 100m butterfly with a time of 34.09 seconds.

She added a silver medal in the 50m freestyle, touching the wall at 31.64 seconds.

Division Sweep

Epan expanded her medal count at the Division Meet, securing seven podium finishes led by five gold medals.

She swept the butterfly events, winning the 50m butterfly in 34.09 seconds, the 100m butterfly in 1:29.41, and the 200m butterfly in 3:26.18.

Epan also captured gold in the 200m individual medley with a time of 3:02.75 and led her team to victory in the 400m medley relay in 6:06.42.

She rounded out her individual tally with a silver medal in the 200m medley relay at 2:36.55 and a bronze medal in the 100m freestyle at 1:11.31.

Technical Focus

Coach Erickson Jadap designed her program to develop starts, turns, underwater skills, sprint speed, and distance stamina across different swimming events.

"Yes, butterfly is my favorite stroke because I enjoy the challenge and the feeling of pushing myself to the limit," Epan notes, setting her next target to break 30 seconds in the 50m butterfly.

Jadap aims to build on her personal best times as she prepares for upcoming regional and national competitions.
