The Cagayan de Oro Press Club will celebrate its 75th founding anniversary this month with journalism workshops, fellowship activities and a gala night for members and partners.

The club, founded on Nov. 11, 1951, has scheduled anniversary activities on Nov. 11, 17–18 and 23.

COPC President Hanne S. Pisos said the celebration will begin on the club’s actual founding anniversary with a program at PhilTown Hotel.

The event will include the formulation of the club’s vision and mission statements and the signing of a scholarship agreement with PHINMA-Cagayan de Oro College.

COPC Executive Vice President Uriel Quilinguing said during Wednesday’s Meet the Press program that the current board initiated the drafting of the statements to give the organization a clearer direction.

The club is also accepting entries for hymn-making and reel-making competitions. The winning hymn will be adopted as the official COPC hymn and played during major club events.

A two-day trainers’ training is scheduled on Nov. 17 and 18. It will cover basic journalism, digital media platforms, and campus and community journalism. The venue has yet to be announced.

The anniversary will end with a Diamond Gala and Recognition Night on Nov. 23 at Luxe Hotel.

Guests are encouraged to wear formal or evening attire in diamond or silver themes.

COPC and PhilHealth Regional Office X are also set to sign an agreement during the gala to promote public understanding of PhilHealth programs and services.

The partnership will include press briefings, media interviews and information campaigns on Universal Health Care, YAKAP, GAMOT and other PhilHealth services.

The gala will also feature the COPC president’s accomplishment report and the recognition of loyal participants in the club’s Meet the Press program.

A Best in Attire contest will award ₱3,000 each to the winners in the male and female categories.
