THE movie’s title is “Wildcat” because it stars Kate Bickensale. Kate, Kat, cat. Gets mo? Ah hehe.
There I was again watching a movie at SM CDO Downtown Premier. Operative word: downtown. Meaning it was “Dashing through the snow/In a one horse open sleigh/Over the hills we go/Laughing all the way” right after to avoid the afternoon traffic to the crib in uptown Cagayan de Oro.
By the way, the skybridge that connects SM Northwing to SM City CDO Uptown’s main mall now has a Santa, reindeers, and Christmas trees. Meaning, if raindrops will fall on the partially roofed skybridge again like what happened at the height of Typhoon Depression Verbena last month, at least it now has reindeers that can help mall goers dash through the rain. There’s no dashing through the snow because Pinas has only two seasons: rain and no rain.
CDO does have floods but that’s not snow unless the Cold War between the reigning political party and the other political party can freeze floodwaters.
The weather is cooler now that Christmas is so near, I can almost see that kiss under the mistletoe — haha — and I can also see traffic getting worse especially on weekends.
If you’re a Cagayanon who can choose to go to CDO’s malls on weekdays, please don’t join the madding crowds there on weekends. Downtown CDO’s traffic on weekends may result to madness, thus, the madding crowd.
I do make the most of my time whenever I’m downtown by windowshopping galore at the shops that don’t have branches at SM City CDO Uptown. With malls now closing later than usual to encourage people to shop until they drop for the Christmas season, this can mean going home at midnight after looking for the perfect gift for each family member, relative, friend, colleague, and Kris Kringle on the Christmas list.
If you want to avoid the stress that choosing gifts may cause, better give cash or gift certificates so there’s no need to wander around the mall buying items that will only attract dust.
And please don’t give me piggies — there are piggies that I love and piggies that I hate, and only I know the difference. It’s kind of love at first sight for the piggy and me. But if you insist, I’ll still keep that piggy and take care of it with all my heart.
A friend’s deadline for staying in downtown CDO is 3 pm to avoid the traffic to her uptown residence. Mine is, hmmm, 1 am? Because surely there’s no more traffic by then. Unless it’s a few days before Election Day when political candidates are allegedly giving cash gifts to potential voters. Okay. They’re not cash gifts. They’re bribes. And the long and winding lines before Election Day are the warning signs for payouts.
These payouts are allegedly done at the political candidate’s residence, a government agency office, the barangay hall, etc.
For Election 2025, potential voters didn’t care anymore if they were seen joining these long and winding lines. It was like a fiesta as they travelled across CDO to get the highest bribe — allegedly, reportedly, supposedly.
Pinas will be the happiest place on earth if its campaign season coincides with its Christmas season which starts in September.
