LABOR and employment northern Mindanao department (DOLE) has reported that its pre-employment coaching program assisted senior high school students in a work immersion orientation in Calamba town, a report reaching Gold Star Daily Monday.
In a statement, the agency’s Misamis Occidental Provincial Field Office (Mis. Occ. PFO) even said conducted a pre-employment coaching and labor market information (LMI) orientation to students on March 21, at Don Mateo Matunog Gymnasium in the town.
The 638 Grade 12 students came from different schools in Calamba, including the College of Communication, Information, and Technology (CCIT), Liberation Institute (LI), Calamba National Comprehensive High School (CNCHS), and Sacred Heart College of Calamba Inc.
Provincial Director Acosta stressed that the above activity was meant to teach Grade 12 students about the working world by teaching "would-be workers" about their rights and responsibilities at work.
Acosta said it makes sure that employees' knowledge, skills, and attitudes keep up with changes in the business system and helps them do their jobs better and more efficiently.
Rolly T. Baroy, work immersion committee chairperson, said that they have partner firms in Calamba where their senior high school students will be sent for work immersion in 10 days based on their selected track or strand.
He was grateful to the department for providing a comprehensive package of pre-employment and labor market information.
Present during the activity were Municipal Mayor Luisito B. Villanueva Jr., Rolly Baroy, Mis. Occ. PFO staff led by Acosta, and students from the different schools in Calamba. (PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
