SEVERAL Mondays ago, Wordle’s correct answer was “dough.”
No, not “do” as in “DO — a deer, a female deer.” Dough as in gingerbread cookie dough.
I got that on the fifth guess. Wordle allows only six guesses after which the guesser will get an X/6 if he fails to produce the right word.
Before reaching “dough,” though, I went through several guesses first: route, cough, bough. I’m not posting my first word here—that’s kind of a top secret in the world of Wordle. Hehe.
My Wordle guesses for that day made me realize that although dough, cough, and bough have almost the same spelling except for the first letter, their pronunciation is not the same.
On Friday, the Wordle word was “truck.” But it took me a while to get it. Druck? Cruck? Fruck? Wruck? Bruck? Juice colored. How can something so simple become complicated?
But that’s human nature. We prefer complicated, don’t we?
The diet, for example, can be as simple as grilling a thick slab of pork liempo and boiling a long and winding oxtail with salt and water as the other ingredients.
Still, we’d rather bake a cake. If you know how to do that, complete with icing, that requires following a recipe which can take a long time. If you’re a beginner, there’s a possibility for that cake to refuse to rise, no thanks to the wrong kind and quantity of ingredients, the confusing way you were mixing them, and oven issues.
Try making sylvanas. Let’s see if your patience will be tested to the max. My sister Joan tried that and perfected it but warned us she’s making it only for us, her immediate family, and was not planning to include it in her baked goodies menu for her suki.
Christmas is one occasion that can easily morph from simple to complicated. This season is the first time ever for me to attend parties that required these as dress codes: long gown, and pajamas.
I toured all the malls in Cagayan de Oro to look for piggy jammies which I did find at the SM Store at SM City CDO Uptown but it had no small sizes for me.
Yes, just when I had lost weight and could now fit into smaller sizes, the large and extra large were the only ones in stock.
When I was still fat, it was the opposite: they had the smaller sizes but not the XXL.
Why oh why.
So, I went to the SM Store at SM CDO Downtown Premier, but it also had the bigger sizes.
Bakit ba ganyan?
So, I decided to add Donald Duck to my pajama hunt if I couldn’t find a piggy.
Finally found a Donald Duck at Gaisano City Mall.
Along with the pajama hunt was the search for the long gown. Whew.
As if those were not enough, a Christmas tree lighting event had Modern Filipiniana as a dress code. Which could be interpreted in so many ways. But did it include a bikini made of piña and jusi? Hmmm.
