TAGUM City — A former soldier was killed after allegedly attempting to fight operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) here. Naravy Duquiatan, officer-in-charge of PDEA Region 11 said yesterday that anti-narcotics operatives of the Davao del Norte Provincial Drug Enforcement Office under PDEA and the Tagum City Police Station were implementing a search warrant against Roel Valcurza Sahiron and his live-in partner Maria Shalika Cheng February, around 2:45 pm, Wednesday in Barangay Visayan Village. However, the PDEA official said Sahiron, a former member of the Philippine Army, pulled a .38 revolver and exchanged gunfire with operatives. The suspect was rushed to Tagum Provincial Hospital but attending physicians declared him dead on arrival. (davaotoday.com)
