CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Two young sisters from Cagayan de Oro claimed back-to-back championships in separate weekend art competitions held at a local mall this city.

Grade 4 student Mitch Brielle Q. Gutierrez of South City Central School won the Sketch It! with Mongol 2026 Kids Category on Oct. 18, following her sister Alythea Micka Q. Gutierrez, a 1st-year student from Cagayan de Oro National High School, who won the Titus Pens iDoodle Challenge 2026 on Oct. 17.

Sister Titles

Alythea Micka continued a family tradition in the Titus high school division, extending a three-year championship streak from 2024 to 2026.

"Yes daghan kaayo akong bantayan sa art nako, na challenge gud ko labina sa Titus iDoodle pen, need pa mag detailed ko kay kung ma chada nako ug drawing, ug ma daug pajud nako malipay akong papa," Alythea Micka shared.

"My favorite part of my artwork is the flow/contour, and the anatomy of human figure," she added regarding her winning pen doodle piece.

Creative Process

Meanwhile, Mitch Brielle captured the Mongol pencil sketching title with her artwork titled "Home Sweet Home," featuring a giant Mongol pencil.

"My meaning of my sketch it with the big Mongol with the tittle 'Home Sweet Home' is my third home, because we meet new friends that I feel like in my home, together making artwork as a new beginneng," Mitch Brielle explained.

Transitioning from pen doodling on Saturday to pencil sketching on Sunday brought both excitement and pride to the young artist.

"I'm so happy ug kulba-an ko pag-kadaug nako sa Mongol ug Titus I feel so proud na happy ako papa ug nama," Mitch Brielle noted.

Family Support

The sisters' father, who coaches them at home, expressed deep emotion seeing his daughters achieve what he once dreamed of as a young artist.

"Winning two back to back championship sama sa Titus ug Mongol is very hard challenges pero enjoy, tungod na-pang abot ang mga maayo nga artist sa kasi klasing eskwelahan," their father said.

He emphasized providing guidance while allowing his children to enjoy their growth and balance their artistic training with family values.
