ILIGAN City ― There's this convict who was about to be executed in a few hours. He was then given a delicious meal and asked if he wanted to smoke his favorite cigarette. And he declined, because, he said, it was bad for his health.
A corny joke, I should say.
Now, relative to these things that are said to be hazardous to our health, I heard a lawyer say that the imported rice that we are eating is "filled with chemicals" so that it won't get easily spoiled. Yet without these chemicals in them, there is a built-in hazard. Because the price is much much higher than those promised by our dear PBBM--that is P20 per kilo!
And this lawyer, Atty. Leo Zaragoza said too that fruits like grapes and or apples are mixed with chemicals so that they remain fresh upon reaching this country of ours. So, what happens to the saying "an apple a day keeps the doctor away"?
He added too that these fruits should be soaked with water with salt on them for a minimum of thirty minutes to lessen the hazards to our health, before eating them.
And I remember too that these buko juice, that is, the juice that comes with the young coconuts, are mixed too with chemicals. That is, if we see them being marketed as that kind of juice, but no longer inside the coconuts. They're already being placed inside some containers. But they taste like buko though but with that kind of info being fed to us, who cares about some juice of young coconuts if the coconuts are no longer visible, only the liquid thing?
Yet, those kinds of hazards to the health are rather "killing me softly things" and I don't know whether there are songs involved!
But there is a reveal that is very very hazardous to many people. And not softly too. This is the reveal of one Edgar Matobato. His doings are not only immediately hazardous to the people that he targets but in time it was very hazardous to his health.
So, who is he?
Of course, many have known him by now. He has come out in the open being a hit man among several hit men of the Davao Death Squad.
I saw a video of the analysis of a journalist from, Rappler, one Chay Florentino Hofilano along with Father Flavie Villanueva, SVD' The latter is among the people who shielded Matobato in fleeing from those after him and we now know who were after him. So he had to stay in one place, not for long, to avoid being caught up with those pursuing him. That is after he couldn't do anymore what he was told to do.
For it had become hazardous to his health! Both physical and mental.
He said he was particularly haunted by the memory of 3 young girls in their teens, ages 15 or so. They were said to be targeted for being suspected to be involved in drug-related activities, Before being dumped in a river outside Davao City, he said they were raped by the police who were part of the team too.
Matobato, a guy who is short in stature and who did not have any formal schooling, has had enough of that kind of thing. Even if there was plenty of money in it.
There was a clip of a video that had him saying that in each operation, he had to carry two guns. One hand was the gun used to carry out the shooting of the target. The other hand carried a "plastic" or unlicensed gun, as I understood it. That is, to do some shooting on some part of himself if needed for the "nanlaban" aspect.
It was then learned that there were several people involved in shielding him from his pursuers which included too then President P-noy although the latter hadn't made it known, but later revealed it to former senator Antonio Trillanes III.
It was learned too that at first, the people who had managed to help him through and through to minimize the hazards were suspicious of him. But later, they saw the earnestness in him.
We learned that he is out of the country along with his wife. And now not within the grasp of the powers responsible for all those things Especially since Tatay Digs is no longer the President.
He is nagged by his conscience, he said, and has suffered ill health. He too has asked forgiveness to the people he had done those things.
