OSCAR Moreno hit the jackpot by being under the protection of the Pimentels or isn’t he? Would the Pimentels put at risk their relationship with President Duterte by protecting Moreno?
I once wrote about this, and I am repeating it again. I see a split. I see our President forming his own party in the future if he is truly for “change,” a slogan that won him 16 million votes, not to mention those he lost by way of cheating.
Sec. Sueño better be careful not to fall and falter. At the rate the President is going smoothly, any mistake by his men will be feasted on by political enemies just waiting for mistakes to happen.
The “DuCay” supporters are now wondering what things would have been if the tandem made it successfully. What Cayetano is made of can be gleaned from his statement in one of their rallies. “Di bale na kung matalo ako. Huwag nyo lang tulutan na matalo si Digong!”
Cayetano may not be very visible but he’s always been around. “I will protect the President and the policies we campaigned for.”
A split in loyalty to the Pimentels and the President will spell disaster to PDP. In the city, it may even have started. Those who initially expressed willingness to join in the revitalization of PDP may already have a change of heart.
The President is unlikely to renege on his promises. In the event of a split-up, he may not get enough numbers from the politicians, but he still holds a strong 16 million supporters from whom he gets his strength as a leader.
Local politicians have jumped ship to the Pimentels and from the stories we get, they are still into their old habits. It being the case, “change” in this part of the country is nothing but mere slogan and empty word.

A request has been sent to me to “investigate” a councilor who is building a big house with more than 10 rooms in it. This councilor was the one who threatened a columnist of this paper with physical harm, according to a radio listener. “Kung magpataka ni ug estorya, mapukpukan gyud ang iyang ulo,” he allegedly said.
Why ask me to “investigate”? I thought we have this government program or office that conducts lifestyle checks. Who are these people? What have they been doing all these years, at least in the city?
If this councilor is really building a big house as described, then he must be very rich to afford that. What’s wrong with that then? Unless one can show me his income tax return that would prove otherwise, then it’s up to this government entity to do the lifestyle check.

Is the Cagayan River so shallow that at any given time, one can cross it without wetting the knees? And what has our local government been doing to address it? In case of another Sendong-like downpour, would not the whole stretch of Burgos Street be inundated again?
I don’t want another message like this: “Your fear came true last night.”
