NAWAN, Misamis Oriental — Farmers in Barangay Lubilan want better roads to ease travel, especially during rainy days, as residents also seek improvements in school facilities and stronger watershed protection.
These concerns were raised before Misamis Oriental Gov. Juliette Uy and other provincial officials during a community dialogue on Monday, October 26, under the provincial government’s Panaghiusang Serbisyo initiative.
For farmer Anita Daumar, 56, poor road access adds to the daily burden of reaching farms and transporting agricultural products.
“Unta matagaan namig tarong nga dalan diri kay para dili nami maglisod samot nag mag-ulan,” Daumar said, appealing for a proper road to help residents avoid further difficulties during rainy weather.
Residents also raised the proposed opening of a road sought by Indigenous Peoples in the area, along with school-related needs and the protection of their watershed.
The concerns highlighted the community’s need for lasting solutions to basic infrastructure, education and environmental challenges, beyond the immediate delivery of government assistance.
Uy assured residents that her administration would continue supporting their aspirations, stressing that access to government services should not depend on political affiliations.
The provincial government also brought services directly to the barangay, including medical consultations, medicines, optical services, social welfare assistance, veterinary care, legal services, educational materials and agricultural inputs.
Department of the Interior and Local Government-10 Regional Director Bruce Colao commended the initiative for bringing government services closer to communities.
Naawan Mayor Dennis Roa and Barangay Lubilan Chairperson Marcelo Canion expressed hope that the assistance provided would continue beyond the community activity.
For Lubilan residents, the key concern remains whether their requests for better road access, school support and watershed conservation will translate into sustained government action.
