CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Nine-year-old swimmer Xav Roblin Galeon earned Most Outstanding Swimmer honors after sweeping five gold medals at the One Mindanao Aquatic Championships 2026 held in Digos City.

Competing for the North Shore Waves Swim Team under coach Edward Maut, the Grade 4 student from Corpus Christi School won all five of his entered events in the 9-and-under division.

Gold Sweep

Galeon completed an undefeated 5-for-5 gold medal run during the two-day island-wide competition.

"My favorite race was the 100m backstroke because I gave my best. I felt very happy and proud when I received my MOS trophy," Galeon said.

Student Athlete

The young swimmer balances daily pool training with his academic responsibilities at Corpus Christi School through structured scheduling.

"It’s tiring sometimes, but I try my best to manage my time between school and swimming. My parents and coaches help me stay focused and disciplined," Galeon said.

Family Support

His mother, Monica Parrel Galeon, highlighted the family's focus on maintaining personal well-being alongside competitive athletic goals.

"We remind Xav that medals are a bonus, but his health, education, and happiness come first," she said.

She added that Corpus Christi School continues to provide vital academic backing that enables her son to pursue competitive swimming.
