Churchill Aguilar HERE’S my last and final installment on this print forum among the three mayoral candidates. Final question: Why should Cagay-anons vote for you this coming May 2016? Mayor Oca: “I bring with me a wealth of experience both in private and public service. My 20-year experience in the corporate world and 18 years in government gives me a good grasp of the dynamics and nuances of corporate management and work ethics combined with public service. “My experience both in legislative work and local governance, having been a Congressman  and a three-termer Governor in Misor and the current City Mayor of CDO, gives me a deeper understanding of the interplay between the national and the local government and the private sector which is an essential element in the delivery of services. “We pride ourselves of our administration’s (both in Misor and CDO) unprecedented accomplishments in the areas of education, health, infrastructure and social services. We have accomplished so much in these areas and made a lot of difference in the lives of the poor such as in areas where classrooms are scarce; and we have alleviated the financial worries of those badly needing healthcare; empowered the marginalized sectors; connected communities by constructing roads; among others in the last 18 years of my public service. “With God’s help and with the people’s support, we will bring CDO to greater heights.” Congressman Rufus:  “I am a true Kagay-anon: I was born here and I grew up here. I have spent my last 9 years directly serving Kagay-anons as the District 2 Congressman. Indirectly, I have served Kagay-anons as a Senior Board Member of Misamis Oriental from 1980-1984 and as a Vice Governor of Misamis Oriental from 1984-1986. “As your Congressman, I am always in Congress, working hard so that the Kagay-anon voice will be heard. For the last nine years, I have a perfect attendance in Congress. In the 15th Congress, I authored and co-authored 1,090 housebills and resolutions making me the number 1 Congressman that passed the most number of bills. Of these, 31 of my bills have become law, making me the number 1 Congressman that had the most number of bills that became law. For 2016, I have secured P 3.185B for various projects in District 2. “I believe that I can do so much more for our Cagayan de Oro City. I am intelligent, qualified, experienced and hardworking. I will give my all in serving our people because Cagayan de Oro deserves the best Kagay-anon.” Former Mayor Dongkoy: “Because my crusade has always been genuine public service. No ifs, no buts. Not to make myself look good but to make sure that the public is served and their welfare is prioritized and safeguarded.” There you have it. The choice is yours, choose wisely. Gone are the days where people can be bought, we are now entering an era of enlightenment; an era of informed voters.  It has been an honor to be the medium of this forum. I wish all our three mayoral candidates luck. Let me just assure our readers that I will hold our politicians accountable for every promise they made in this forum in my future takes the moment one of them sits as our city mayor in the next three years.
