By LITO RULONA Correspondent The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department will seek help from Cagayan de Oro-based rafters to automatically coordinate with them when disasters like flooding will hit the city and nearby places. This was the recommendation made by Allan Porcadilla, officer-in-charge of the CDRRMD in a press conference held at city hall, after declaring that the city free from tropical depression Agaton, yesterday morning. “Basta ingon ani nga dunay nag-singabot nga calamity we will immediately invite and ask help from the Oro Rafters Club to augment our manpower og maka-gamit sa ilang mga gamit,” he said. He said they will no longer ask help during the time that a certain calamity would hit the city like storms Sendong, Pablo, and the recent Vinta. Possible number of rafters along with CDRRMD responders has been assigned specific location to flood-prone areas. Among other recommendations include an update of cellphone numbers of all personnel involved as emergency responders and to update all contact numbers from time to time. “Based on experience some of the responders change contact numbers after encountering some problem with the telecom providers,” he said. Other recommendation also include to ask barangay officials to have a designated personnel who will guide and support the responding team in looking for  possible access and exit of flooded areas. Porcadilla said as experienced from the past incidents, rescue group find it hard to gain access to affected barangays especially in remote areas. “Magduha-duha man pud ang mga rescuers sa pagsulod kung walay mo-guide sa ila. I suggest nga mahimo siya nga routine to the barangay level kung dunay mahitabo nga coming disaster,” he explained.
