MAYORAL candidate Cagayan de Oro 1st District Rep. Rolando “Klarex” Uy on Monday urged voters in Cagayan de Oro City to pray for all candidates seeking to be elected in the forthcoming national and local polls on May 9.
“Palihug i-ampo ang tanang kandidato. Ug labaw sa tanan, palihug og ampo og giya aron makapili kamo og ensaktong mga lideres nga tinuay moserbisyo sa katawhan; mga lideres kansang kasing-kasing anaa ang interes sa katawhan (Please pray for all candidates. And most especially, please pray for guidance that you may choose the leaders that will truly, really serve the people; leaders who have the interest of the people at heart),” Rep. Uy said.
Uy, who is seeking the seat at City Hall, also urged candidates to pray for one another instead of attributing unfounded accusations and saying other nasty things against one another.
“Ato untang i-ampo ang matag usa. Imbis nga atong akusahan ug maghimo kita og mga tumo-tumo aron malingla ang mga tawo, mag-ampo kita kay parehas ra man kitang mga kandidato nga naninguha nga makaserbisyo sa atong katawhan (We should pray for one another. Instead of accusing and making allegations to deceive the people, let’s pray because we, candidates, are the same in our pursuit to serve the people),” he said.
Uy is at the receiving end of accusations of being a drug lord despite the absence of concrete evidence that even the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) cleared him. However, this accusation continues to this day, prompting the KaubanTaUy legal team to gather evidence for libel against the accusers.
Uy, the only barangay chairman in the entire Philippines who went on to become a congressman, made the statement after meeting with the two archbishops of Cagayan de Oro, His Excellency, the Most Reverend Jose Araneta Cabantan, SSJV, DD, archbishop of Cagayan de Oro and His Excellency, the Most Reverend Antonio Javellana Ledesma, SJ, DD, archbishop emeritus.
During their meeting, they agreed to move for the achievement of a Clean, Honest, Accurate, Meaningful and Peaceful (CHAMP) elections on Monday.
“Hinaut undangon na nato ang mga tumo-tumo ug mga bakak. Dili pwede nga nakadaug kita sa piniliay tungod lang sa mga bakak ug pagdaot sa atong mga kaatbang sa pulitika. Ato lang untang ilatag sa katawhan ang atong tagsa-tagsa ka mga plataporma aron makita nila kung kinsa gayud ang angayan mahimo nilang mga sulogoon sulod sa sunod tulo ka mga tuig (I hope that we stop with the allegations and lies. It is not good that we won the elections just because we lied and mudsling our political opponents. Instead, let us put before the people each of our platforms so that they can scrutinize and decide who are the best candidates who will become their servants in the next three years),” Uy said.
Uy and the entire Team KaubanTaUy is running on the Platform of Economic Recovery, dubbed as RISE 2022.
