By Nora Soriño Iligan City Bureau Chief Iligan City — Although the cut of water services have been scheduled and announced, residents here still complained about it. Jun Lino Bacus, of the city information office said the loss of water was because of a repair of one of the major gate valves of the water system adding some households could not have water immediately after Thursday as the connections would be done “little by little and slowly,” quoting the City Waterworks District under Engr. Venerando Burdeos. He also added that the P495 million water project leaves much to be desired, taking a dig at the then administration of city mayor Lawrence Ll. Cruz, who undertook said project with a loan from government banks. Earlier, City Councilor Petronilo Pardillo said a ground breaking ceremony was held at Palao for the supply of said barangay which had been waterless for several decades now. Pardillo added that the project costs P14 million, the original price of which was P17Million. This is to be funded by the LandBank, he said. The groundbreaking ceremonies was held Tuesday of this week, it was learned. The project, he said will be completed by March 2018 and this will be undertaken by AB Construction of Davao City. He explained that required processes had been undertaken and that the company won the bidding as it has the necessary equipment and expertise to do the project. “The other ones who participated in the bidding (did) not have such,” the councilor added.
