Netnet Camomot THERE are days when all I wanna do is read, write, eat, sleep, repeat. Those are the good days. For bad days, eat and sleep would be perfect. Well, at least I haven’t lost my appetite for food. Once that’s gone, that will be the worst day ever. I’ve been planning to have a noice diet in the last few days after gaining four pounds, no thanks to the sikwate and decaf coffee for breakfast. But each time I see the food on the table, I'd start thinking, Rice. For the hotdogs and fried egg. For the fried fish, and chicharon dipped in vinegar with garlic. For the salted egg.For the pochero. For the sinugbangtiyansababoy and kinilaw. The Pinoy grew up with rice. How can he stop eating rice? My sis-in-law has replaced rice with red quinoa. I tried that once and I was like, Nope, can't survive with this. Haha. There was a time when I replaced rice with fruit––apple, banana, grapes. I guess I have to go back to that diet. Losing weight must be the hardest thing to do in this oh so cruel world. Look at Oprah Winfrey. She can't even lose weight despite her millions of dollars which she uses to hire chefs to prepare the most nutritious meals for her, and personal trainers to keep her fit and fab. My rule now is to wake up before 6 a.m. for the 6 a.m. walk but without using the alarm clock. I woke up at 5:55 a.m. a few days ago, but with five minutes to prepare before 6 a.m., that gave me another excuse not to go walking. Hay naku. Health is wealth, as the saying goes, and one of the mayoral candidates for Cagayan de Oro must be having regrets now for not remembering that saying. With campaign sorties also requiring some twerking with scantily clad sexy dancers, how can he go onstage and dance? But, oh, the twerking was for a yellow gathering somewhere in Luzon, supposedly sponsored by the guy who's in-charge of solving the worsening traffic in Metro Manila. Nope, no "twerk it like Miley" for the violet political party here in CDO. Yes, the allegedly-dancer-hiring guy is among those tasked to unclog the traffic mess, but he had time to hire sexy dancers, which he denied of course. Men will always be men, though, unless they're the kind that prefers their, uh, fellow men which may also require twerking but with scantily clad guys. Ooh la la. And here's Britney Spears again for the more vivid details of that ooh la la: “Take my hand, we can go all night/And spin me round just the way I like/It feels so good, I don't wanna stop/So baby come with me and be my ooh la la.” The campaign trail will be paved with... No, not with good intentions. They will be paved with dancing and singing and joking. Dancing like Miley, singing like Britney, and joking like the dictator's son who said he has heard Pinoys saying, “Buti pa noongpanahonniMarcos.” I gotta feeling those Pinoys are his dad’s cronies and his mom’s Blue Ladies. Here in CDO, the campaign trail will be paved with ube, mango and orange. Halo-halo, anyone? But yummy, eh? The more, the merrier. Let’s see if the ube party will have a new mayoral candidate once someone’s health problems will prove to be too big to hide. For now, he can join the campaign by opening a car window and smiling to fans from there. The yellow mayor will probably again sing “What a Wonderful World” which can be the theme song for the three colors in CDO: “The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky/Are also on the faces of people going by/I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do/But they’re really saying I love you.” Note: colors of the rainbow, which do include yellow, orange and violet. Ooh la la. And the orange congressman who wants to be mayor may promote orange as the ultimate source of Vitamin C. C as in congressman, and C as in Cagayan de Oro.
