CAGAYAN de Oro City — The City Hospital in Tablon is scheduled for ceremonial turnover on Tuesday, October 27, as the city government moves to advance the facility toward full operation and expand access to basic health services.

The hospital, built during the previous city administration, had faced criticism over its location, particularly concerns about accessibility and road right-of-way issues.

Under Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy’s administration, the facility is expected to provide emergency room, outpatient, animal bite treatment and laboratory services.

The city government is targeting the hospital’s development into an infirmary facility by the first quarter of 2027, with the goal of bringing essential medical services closer to residents of Cagayan de Oro’s second district and neighboring cities and municipalities.

The planned turnover comes after the hospital marked its first anniversary on September 2, based on a post on its official Facebook page.

In its anniversary message, the hospital recognized the dedication of its healthcare workers and staff, as well as the support of the city government and the trust of the community.

However, the ceremonial turnover does not necessarily mean all services will immediately become available.

The specific date when the facility will begin accepting patients, along with details on staffing, equipment and operating arrangements, remains unclear based on the information available for this report.

The facility’s progress will ultimately be measured by its ability to bring accessible and dependable medical services closer to the communities it is intended to serve.
