CAGAYAN de Oro City — Grassroots athletes and coaches in Tagum City could get faster access to allowances, sports equipment and tournament support as the city works to cut delays in procurement and financial processing.

The Tagum City Youth and Sports Development Office (TCYSDO) held a whole-day financial and procurement training on Oct. 2 with the City Accounting Office and the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC).

The training focused on improving document processing, accounting compliance and the use of the city’s digital KRZ procurement system.

Officials said better coordination among the offices could help prevent paperwork errors that often delay financial assistance and sports-related purchases.

The training also covered the preparation and submission of Project Procurement Management Plans (PPMPs), which are needed for requests such as sports equipment, venue rentals, sound systems and medals.

For athletes and coaches, the changes are expected to help speed up the processing of stipends, travel allowances and tournament assistance.

Better tracking of financial documents could also help the sports office liquidate funds on time and maximize its annual budget for barangay sports clinics, youth leagues and other grassroots programs.

The city said closer coordination between the TCYSDO, Accounting Office and BAC would help sports programs move more smoothly from approval to actual implementation.
