AMAI Pakpak Medical Center has secured accreditation for the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. Z Benefit Package, ensuring full coverage for coronary artery bypass graft procedures under the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
The agreement, signed on March 3 between APMC and PhilHealth-Barmm, aims to provide indigent patients with access to life-saving heart surgery, which typically costs around P550,000.
“We know that CABG is a very expensive surgery, but with the Z Benefit Package, PhilHealth will cover the full cost,” said Dr. Ali Macatanong, head of the APMC Heart Institute.
Dr. Masiding M. Alonto Jr., PhilHealth regional vice president, lauded APMC’s efforts to enhance healthcare services in Mindanao, particularly in Lanao del Sur.
“This is a huge step toward improving healthcare in the region. APMC continues to develop as a premier multi-specialist center,” Alonto said.
APMC has maintained strong ties with PhilHealth, with reimbursements increasing yearly.
In 2023, PhilHealth paid P431 million to the hospital, rising to P555 million in 2024. By early 2025, disbursements had already reached P102 million.
Since the APMC Heart Institute opened in August 2023, the hospital has worked to make specialized medical care more accessible.
With PhilHealth’s Z Benefit Package, APMC aims to save more lives and improve healthcare quality in the region.
