BRIGADIER General Michele Anayron has officially been designated as commander of the Cagayan de Oro-based Army 4th Infantry division replacing Brigadier General Consolito Yecla, the acting division commander since last week.

Anayron, a former commander of the Army 403rd Infantry Brigade in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, replaced Major General Jose Maria Cuerpo II, who retired on January 17.

Army Chief Lieutenant General Roy Galido attributed the delay in naming Anayron as Cuerpo's replacement last week to a “glitch in the bureaucracy.”

Galido said it also happened in the 6th Infantry Division where its new chief Brigadier General Donald Gumiran was only installed last January 25 in Maguindanao del Norte.

Anayron who will be 56 years old in May 2025, hails from Sugbongcogon town in Misamis Oriental and took his early college years at Xavier University.

He handled the public information during the massacre of 13 farm workers and wounding 16 others in Balabagan town in Lanao del Sur on August 10, 2000, and the Sendong tragedy in Cagayan de Oro in 2011.

Anayron is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Tanglaw-Diwa” class of 1992.
