By LITO RULONA Correspondent POLICE arrested five suspects in a carnapping-murder case in Tagoloan town in Misamis Oriental. The victim’s head was crushed. Tagoloan police chief Al Tare said identified three of the suspects as Ronaldo Patindol, 31, Johnrey Lapertas, 23, and Romnick Patindol, 18. Two other arrested suspects are minors, aged  13 and 16. Police linked the group to the killing of 45-year old “habal-habal” driver Leandro Demata of Barangay Balubal, this city. The suspects were identified through a circuit-television camera recording that showed the group flagging down the driver in Barangay Puerto last week. The suspects allegedly came from a drinking spree. Chief Insp. Tare said police first arrested four of the five suspects, including the two minors, and then the alleged mastermind, Rolando Patindol, the following day. Patindol a.k.a. Edot is from a remote area in Sitio Bugna, Barangay Casinglot where police cornered him on Wednesday. Tare said complaints for  carnapping (motorcycle theft) and murder would be filed against the group before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office (PPO). “Wala na gani miabot sa interrogation period, they admitted the crime,” he said. One of the minors told investigators Pantindol instructed them to crush the head of the victim with rocks. Patindol has confessed to the murder, saying it was the result of a spat his group had with the driver. He said Demata had asked them to pay too much. “P30 ra ang iyang pangayo pero pag-abot namo didto sa amoa. Iyang gipangayo P200 mao nga naglalis mi,” he said. Patindol said he could not deny any participation in the crime because they were seen on CCTV camera recording.
