A STRONG quake with a magnitude of 5.2 hit the border towns of Lanao del Sur and Bukidnon provinces at 5:44 am today, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The quake’s epicenter was located in Amai Manabilang town, Lanao del Sur, with a depth of three kilometers.

The Phivolcs also recorded the temblor at Intensity IV in the neighboring town of Kalilangan, Bukidnon; Intensity III was felt in Talakag, Bukidnon, and Cagayan de Oro City; and Intensity I in Malaybalay, Kidapawan, and Cotabato cities.
The quake ruffled churchgoers attending the Misa de Gallo and jolted residents awake in Cagayan de Oro.
The Phivolcs warned of possible damages and aftershocks.
The general area where the quake occurred has experienced major tremors in the past.
The nearby town of Wao in Lanao del Sur displaced more than 1,000 families following a magnitude 6 earthquake in April 2017.
