ILIGAN City – Mayor Celso Regencia and priest cum vice mayor Jemar Vera Cruz are set on seeking reelection, and are expected to field a former police director of the city to challenge the reelection bid of Rep. Frederick Siao of the city’s lone district.

Siao filed his certificate of candidacy together with members of his team yesterday.

The Regencia-Vera Cruz group is seen to field former Iligan city police director Leony Roy Ga against Siao. Incidentally, Regencia also served as a police director of the city before he decided to join politics.

Regencia and members of his ticket for 2019 are expected to submit their candidacy papers to the Commission on Elections today, the deadline set for the filing of certificates of candidacy.

Yesterday, Siao’s group went to the Comelec office in Pala-o after attending mass.

The others who filed their certificates of candidacy are Marianito Alemania for mayor, Samuel Huertas for vice mayor, and for councilors: Wilfredo Niez, Michelle Echavez Sweet, Alfredo Busico, Providencio Abragan Jr., Bernie Padilla, Queenie Belmonte, Veronico Echavez, Cocoy Sabarre, Simplicio Larrazabel III, Art Alibango, Isay Minaga, and Glenn Villacin.

Earlier, barangay councilor Jeffrey Rebleza filed his certificate of candidacy for  councilor.
