TWO heavy equipment mechanics were killed when the motorcycle they were riding crashed while traversing along JR Borja extension, Barangay Gusa in Cagayan de Oro City at 5 am, yesterday.

Investigator on case Patrolman Frederick Cajuelan, identified the victims as Johnmark Mandawe, 34, married, and a native of 12th Avenue, Socorro, Quezon City; and Arianne Luigimel James Arcadio, 27, single of Purok 7, Cabanglasan town, Bukidnon.

The two were rushed to JR Borja General City Hospital only to be declared dead on arrival by an attending physician.

In an investigation conducted by Cajuelan, it was learned that the victims were on their way back to their headquarters from their work at Maxima Komatsu Heavy Equipment when the incident occurred.

Cajuelan said the unit they were riding, a Yamaha NMAX without a plate number, was at high speed when it hit the center island causing it to tumble down on the road pavement.

“Na lost control seguro ang driver adto mao tong nakaigo sa center island. Tungod sa kakusog nalabay ang duha ka biktima sa layo-layo gyud,” Cajuelan said.

The victims sustained several wounds to the different parts of their bodies including fatal wounds to their heads.

It was also learned that the two did not wear helmets.
