Ms. Vicky Lyn Acuesta-Duron, Acting CSWDO of Valencia City said that there are 4,282 senior citizens from the 31 barangays of Valencia who will be receiving Php600.00 each, amounting to Php2,569, 200.00.  The list was based on the data submitted by each Senior Citizens Association in each barangay.

“Senior citizens who turned 70 years old as of July this year are entitled to avail the cash assistance,” Ms. Duron said.  The financial assistance is intended for the economically-disadvantaged senior citizens, for them to have additional cash to spend on basic needs such as medicines and nutritious food to support their health and well-being.

During the disbursement of cash assistance, the elders were also given medical check-up from the City Health Office, and the City Mayor Hon. Azucena P. Huervas pampered the elders by giving free haircut and massage.

“The Mayor provided free grooming services, massage as well as health check-up to our elders for she believes that our elders have once helped mold our city, and this is our way of showing our recognition and appreciation, especially now that they are already in their prime years,” Ms. Duron added.
