Egay Uy .

IN fairness to Banco de Oro Divisoria, its branch manager, Mr. Herminio Banados Jr., called and requested to meet with me with respect to my June 29 column, “Can I use your restroom?”  There, I wrote that my wife Juliet who requested to use the restroom of the bank was instead referred to another establishment’s restroom across two streets.

Jun Banados is a soft-spoken and articulate person who was just assigned to BDO Divisoria on June 1, or barely a month when the restroom incident happened. He admitted however that whatever excuse the bank employees came up with, what the guard did was a no-no.

Jun was apologetic, and even offered to pay for the Burger King that my wife and sons ordered – which offer I had to politely refuse.

I learned that Jun is a Rotarian of South Cagayan de Oro which is also the home club of quite a number of acquaintances, lawyers and non-lawyers alike.  The meet up was made possible through the incumbent president of RC South, Mr. Antonio Resma who is one of my active partners in the Regulatory and Complaint Board (RCB) and in the CDO City Price Coordinating Council (CDO-CPCC).

Jun repeatedly apologized to my wife directly and it was enough to “heal her wounds” from that unfortunate incident.

I will let this matter rest and hope measures will be taken not only by BDO but by other banks that are similarly situated to improve their services to their clients.

I was given a photo of a group of new hires of the traffic office that shows a familiar face who is undergoing training among other recruits.  This familiar face was advised to resign effective Dec. 31, 2017, which he did and whose resignation was accepted, because of involvement in “kotong” incidents as raised by several complainants.

That he was advised to resign was some kind of a “humanitarian approach” because he could have been formally charged for bribery.  I don’t know what’s with the new system of accepting new hires that somebody who already resigned because of “kotong” still allegedly found his way into the list of trainees or new hires.  Unless photoshopped, pictures don’t lie.

I hope this is addressed soon lest the “old boys in the club” will get to do their old tricks again under our very noses.
