THE Tagoloan Municipal Police Station identified attempted rape as the suspected motive behind the fatal stabbing of a 19-year-old girl in Tagoloan town.
Patrolman Benjie Torib named the victim as 19-year-old Lady Grace Galo, a second-year Business Administration student at Tagoloan Community College.
Galo, from Sitio Dinogon in Barangay Sta. Ana, was found with fatal injuries outside her room by her 10-year-old niece Friday morning, Torib said.
Torib indicated initial findings suggest the suspect entered through a steel mat back door, intending harm.
Galo resisted, leading to a struggle where a five-inch kitchen knife, belonging to the suspect, was used.
Galo was alone at home during the incident; her family members were either at work or school.
Torib noted the remoteness of Dinogon, where help couldn’t easily reach despite her calls.
Authorities briefly detained six construction workers as persons of interest, releasing them after clearing them of involvement.
A pursuit operation is ongoing, with police promising to deliver justice.
The Tagoloan Community College's Business Administration Office and the Sta. Ana Parish Youth Council expressed condolences, denouncing Galo’s senseless killing and urging prayers for her soul.
“We seek justice and remember her as a pillar of our community,” the PYCC statement read.
