ONE dance step at a time, one day at a time. This must be the mantra for our belly dancing class where our core has to prove that it’s now capable of dancing like a snake.

No, not acting like a snake — that’s another story.

From boxing to belly dancing at the gym. How about that for variety? We have to be mindful of the gym’s daily sked to ensure we’re bringing the right accessories otherwise we’ll be wearing a belly dance belt for boxing, and boxing gloves and hand wraps for belly dancing.

Zumba classes still have the highest number of attendees, though, because it’s fun and has no rules on how to move the body. You know, just dance, with its intensity dependent on us.

Going to the gym daily has become a hard habit to break now that I’ve realized the deep why behind exercise. It clears my mind, makes life easier to face despite the challenges. Paired with my carnivore diet, they both help me survive.

A diet is still more difficult to practice compared to the daily exercise. I’ve lost count of the number of times I returned to Day One of one more carnivore reboot. Whew. Perhaps this is a sign for me to go back to keto which is easier to follow. But veggies and fruits result to bloating. Will I still be able to deal with that? Hmmm. No. Carnivore is not even the ultimate elimination diet. Try the Lion Diet — beef, salt, and water — to experience the best results.

Transitioning from high-carb to low-carb requires electrolytes otherwise there will be leg cramps, heart palpitations, sleepless nights, etc. which may discourage the low-carb newbie who has not been warned about these. Thus, it’s advisable to study the diet first to be aware that the perks never happen overnight. Miracles can be achieved but they require precious time. That’s why low-carb and carnivore doctors always advise that the dieter should stay with the diet for at least 30 days or even 90 days.

I’ve been low-carb since February 2022. More than three years. I’m now trying so hard to be carnivore as I still crave for high-carb goodies.

Why low-carb? Why carnivore? Because the difference is like night and day, with high-carb as night, and low-carb or carnivore as day. I already know how my day would be the moment I wake up. There’s that little switch in the brain that turns off for the night even if it’s six o’clock in the morning. That’s when I regret eating high-carb food the day before.

Why oh why do I still have carb cravings? Because I don’t give myself the chance to stay carnivore for thirty days. With the gym located at SM City CDO Uptown’s SM Northwing where it co-exists with restos and cafes, my resolve to be carnivore should be stronger than my resolve to avoid toxic people.

I’m bent on continuing this carnivore journey since I’m beginning to notice its perks. Life can be crazy if I allow its twists and turns to control me. I do tend to wear imaginary blinders once I’ve set my mind and heart on achieving even lofty goals.
