MY definition of a big bold beautiful journey used to be Switzerland which has remained in my bucket list for now.
But my definition has switched to the low-carb diet which is now leveling up to carnivore — fingers crossed.
This diet is indeed big and bold and beautiful. Imagine giving up carbs, which is the big and bold side of it. No more rice, bread, pasta, kakanin, veggies, fruits, sugar, halo-halo, bilo-bilo, alcohol, soda, etc. The beautiful part is the healing — no words will ever be enough to describe it.
I never thought I could adopt this diet but I have, for three years and seven months and counting. Puera buyag. Okay. With several high-carb binges that have made this journey way much more interesting than the movie “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey.”
There’s no chemistry at all between its stars Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie. The only scene that may catch the bored audience’s attention is the dialogue about contentment as the key to happiness. Outside of that, there are colorful doors. Lots of them. That should be opened. So David (Farrell) and Sarah (Robbie) could relive their respective past journeys and realize how those contributed to their present journeys.
If you need to be convinced that the saying, “You can’t move forward if you’re still hanging on,” is true, then go watch the movie.
Here’s another quote about moving forward: “Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present.”
I watch movies so I have something to write about. I’m tired of writing about politics.
I guarded Channel 4 at the height of the 1986 People Power and attended its thanksgiving Mass at Edsa.
I knew Pinas would continue to be in dire straits the moment then President Cory Aquino allowed former First Lady Imelda Marcos and her children to return to Pinas in November 1991.
I watched the impeachment trial of then President Erap Estrada on TV. That’s how then Misamis Oriental District 1 Rep. Oscar Moreno became a familiar face to televiewers since he was a member of the Prosecution Panel.
I don’t name politicians and their favorite contractors whenever I write about them, but at least one contractor did ask why I was angry at him — this was many years ago when Sarah Discaya was not yet a contractor.
There was that time when a Cagayan de Oro city councilor was about to introduce me to the CDO city mayor. But when the city mayor stopped a few steps away from me and stared at me for the longest time, the city councilor said, Net, I’ll introduce you to the congressman na lang. Me: But I’ve already met that congressman, we used to drink together with some friends when he was still city councilor.
I don’t know how those five paragraphs are related to each other but they have contributed to my tiredness in writing about politics. Been there, done that.
I don’t watch Congressional hearings anymore. I’d rather watch the big bold beautiful journey of David and Sarah. And that’s Sarah Myers (Robbie), not Discaya.
