Bambi on leave again

MISAMIS ORIENTAL — Governor Yevgeny Vincente Emano has taken another leave of absence, leaving the provincial capitol without an official spokesperson as a controversial 2013 land deal remains unresolved. The governor's departure for Vietnam coincides with reports of a 2017 civil case filed by the Philippine Red Cross, which challenges the legality of a lease agreement between Emano and a private individual named Rhea Ritzie P. Nueva. The Red Cross claims ownership of a 1,029-square meter property across the Northern Mindanao Medical Center, supported by two transfer certificates of title. Despite allegations of an unauthorized deal and subletting without provincial board approval, capitol officials have remained silent, with Provincial Information Officer Carlo Dugaduga also on leave. Vice Governor Jeremy Jonahmar Pelaez has been designated as caretaker while the governor and several board members travel abroad.
