THE City Health Office (CHO) echoed Mayor Oscar Moreno’s call on Cagayan de Oro City’s senior citizens to coordinate with their seniors associations and barangay officials in signing up for the city’s community vaccination program.
“We’d like (to repeat Mayor Moreno’s call and) ask the city’s senior citizens to coordinate with their senior citizens’ association chapter officials and their barangay officials at least a month or more than a month (before the community vaccination kicks off) so that nobody will be left behind,” said CHO medical officer Dr. Ted Yu during last Friday noon’s City Hall press briefing.
Dr. Yu said this as Mayor Moreno received confirmation from acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery that 70 vaccination teams are on standby to vaccinate an average of 75 to 100 seniors per team or about 5,250 daily.
“This doesn’t include the medical societies and hospital groups so once we tap them (we can increase it to 7,000 daily),” Dr. Yu said.
Dr. Yu urged the city’s seniors to submit their validation forms to their senior citizens’ associations and barangay officials who will then submit these forms to CHO’s validation teams for listing in City Hall’s population database.
“Let’s distribute flyers to every area to inform and persuade our seniors to sign up for the city´s vaccination program,” Moreno told CHO officials. (Stephen Capillas of City Information Office)
